No-Bake Chocolate Oatmeal Balls

Oatmeal balls

These are a big hit with kids and husbands alike.

You combine butter or margarine, sugar, milk, and cocoa in a saucepan, then bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly until the mixture is smooth. You remove the pan from the heat and stir in the oats. Once the mixture cools slightly, you add chopped nuts and, if desired, chopped almonds, figs, or other dried fruit.

You moisten your hands with cold water and shape the mixture into balls about the size of a walnut. You place the balls on a plate and refrigerate them until they firm up. Each ball should weigh around 20 grams (about 0.7 ounces).

For this recipe, you’ll need: 250 grams (about 0.55 lbs) of margarine or butter, 1 cup of sugar, 8-10 tablespoons of milk, 4 tablespoons of cocoa powder, 2 tablespoons of berry syrup, 500 grams (about 1.1 lbs) of oatmeal (Hercules oats), and a handful of chopped nuts, almonds, figs, etc.
