As gangster Al Capone put it, “You can get much farther with a kind word and a gun than with a kind word alone.” This week we mark the birthday of a man whose surname practically screams weapon: Browning. His calling card could be the Colt M1911 — a semi-automatic, seven-shot pistol that remains one of the most popular designs in the world. Since 1911, about 3 million have been produced.
But John Moses Browning (January 21, 1855 – November 26, 1926) did much more than the M1911. His work also included the automatic “9 mm Browning pistol model 1903.” The design was engineered so well that it stayed in production for 37 years.

Over his 71 years, Browning created 37 rifled firearm models and 18 smoothbore designs, and he held a large number of patents for his inventions.
I wonder whether we’ll ever reach a point where humanity’s only arsenal consists of kind words instead of weapons. What do you think?
