The Franck Muller Aeternitas Tower, soaring 450 meters, is set to become the world’s tallest branded skyscraper designed for permanent residence. The building’s roof will feature a massive clock by the Swiss watchmaker Franck Muller.
It will be the world’s second-tallest clock tower, after the 601-meter Royal Clock Tower in Mecca (Abraj Al-Bait), which was built as a hotel. The Franck Muller Aeternitas Tower will also be more than four times taller than London’s Big Ben. Aeternitas translates to “eternity.”
The new skyscraper will be developed in partnership with Dubai-based developer London Gate and Franck Muller.
The design of the skyscraper was officially unveiled at the Ritz-Carlton, Dubai. The project’s cost has not been disclosed.
A Brief Introduction
Developer London Gate acquired a plot of land in the Dubai Marina area, where an unfinished 106-story building loomed over the waterfront. London Gate decided the site needed a more monumental tower with a striking feature.
The showpiece will be a gigantic Swiss clock. Tom Gill, a London Gate representative, says the tower’s height will make the clock visible from six kilometers away. The clock face will be 40 meters high and 30 meters wide. “We wanted to create something that has never been seen in Dubai before,” Gill said.
This is Franck Muller’s first venture into real estate. The new clock will have an Art Deco design and be crafted from materials such as matte and polished metals, marble, and textured fabrics.
What Makes the New Skyscraper Special
Overall, the 106-story residential tower will contain 649 residences, from one- to three-bedroom apartments to villas and duplex mansions. A single penthouse will sit at the top. Units will range from 81 to 797 square meters. Each apartment will include a balcony or terrace, a utility room such as a laundry, built-in closets, and spacious dressing rooms.
Future residents will get hotel-style amenities: concierge service, apartment cleaning, 24-hour valet parking, and luggage assistance. CNN reports residents are promised the comforts of home and privacy.
Additionally, the building will offer medical services, a gym, sports facilities, yoga studios, and a swimming pool, along with a cinema, music hall, and library. The luxury residences will feature private pools with relaxation terraces, music zones, and staff rooms.
London Gate says construction is set to begin in the coming days. Residents are expected to be able to move into the skyscraper in the second quarter of 2027.
A Rapidly Developing Market
The Franck Muller Aeternitas Tower underscores the rapid growth of the luxury real estate market in the United Arab Emirates, particularly in Dubai. Brand-developer collaborations are on the rise: upcoming residential projects have been announced by Karl Lagerfeld, Mercedes-Benz, and the 25Hours hotel chain.
As of October 2023, Dubai had 51 completed luxury buildings. Experts expect that number to double by 2030.
