Architects from Unio Design Studio nestled the Living O’Pod capsule into the forest landscape of Repovesi National Park in Finland. The Spanish designers aim to elevate the trendy way of vacationing and living known as “glamping.”
Glamping (a blend of the words “glamorous” and “camping”) refers to a type of luxury camping that combines hotel-like comfort with the great outdoors.
What exactly is this capsule house that rotates on its axis?
The glass spherical apartments are set within a steel frame. According to the design publication Designboom, the glamping site features a functional living space spread across two levels.
This retreat for people escaping civilization, camouflaged in the Finnish forest, is designed for two. The capsule includes a bedroom, living room, kitchen, bathroom, and terrace. The two levels are connected by stairs as black as the steel frame.
Simple yet elegant designer furniture and decor appear in a calming color palette. But the interior occasionally bursts with vibrant splashes, like emerald-green upholstery in the living room or golden ceiling lights in the bar area.
The spherical glass floods the interior with sunlight, and at night it offers breathtaking views of the starry sky.
The Living O’Pod from Unio Design Studio is equipped with an insulating layer and a heating system. That means you can comfortably spend winter at this glamping site, recharging your energy during frosty walks while taking in the forests and mountains of Finland.
The architects designed the glamping structure to be set up anywhere. All components of the capsule house were prefabricated in a factory and then transported to Repovesi for on-site assembly.
