Dubai’s New Biophilic Urban Tech District Will Be Carbon‑Neutral and Look Like a Sci‑Fi City

Biofilic Valley: A monumental eco-technology district is set to rise in Dubai.

The architectural firm URB (UAE) is set to build the world’s largest urban technology district, the Urban Tech District, in Dubai, featuring zero carbon emissions.

This ambitious project aims to create a major technological hub for urban innovation in the Al Jaddaf area. The complex will feature a striking, futuristic design and will cover 140,000 square meters.

The Urban Tech District is expected to generate 4,000 jobs in eco-technologies, education, and training. A multitude of “green” programs and practices will be developed here, Designboom reports. The park will further solidify Dubai’s status as a leading global urban center for fast-moving, progressive innovation.

The eco-friendly buildings will look as if they were lifted from a sci‑fi movie. The architects envision biophilic commercial and educational spaces that make occupants feel immersed in nature. Expansive green areas will act as lungs for offices, conference rooms, classrooms, research laboratories, and business centers.

The technology district will offset all carbon emissions from both construction and operation. The architects say the center’s activities will rely entirely on environmental innovations. That approach will extend to creating a carbon-neutral urban environment and to using renewable energy sources, including massive solar farms.

The architects say the district will offer investment opportunities for innovators working on the challenges of building eco-cities. The Urban Tech District will also be a platform for a new generation of fast-growing advanced companies. An Urban Technology Institute will operate here, where scientists will apply research to develop bold innovations, especially those addressing climate change.

URB’s CEO, Baharash Bagherian, believes Dubai is in a prime position to lead the rollout of cutting-edge urban technologies. The Urban Tech District is poised to become a global hub for that effort.

The firm’s chief executive said eco-friendly technologies are the foundation of future cities. The market for urban innovations is valued at $158 billion and is expected to grow rapidly over the next decade.
