Make These Lazy Cheese Dumplings in Minutes

Lazy dumplings: a recipe for people who value their time.

In summer the kitchen stove can feel like a furnace, turning cooking into a stamina test. If you want to escape that “kitchen slavery,” the aim is to simplify and speed up meal prep — freeing time to relax or work while still feeding everyone. This recipe proves the point: easy-to-make lazy cheese dumplings are energy-rich, packed with protein, carbohydrates, calcium, phosphorus, and amino acids that support the liver and nervous system.

Ingredients: flour – 180 g (plus extra for dusting the work surface); cheese – 350 g; egg – 1; sugar – 4 tablespoons; salt – 1/4 teaspoon.

In a bowl, mix the cheese with the sugar and salt, add the egg or just the yolk, and gradually incorporate the flour. Stir until the “lazy dough” is smooth.

Dust the work surface with flour. Divide the dough into two parts and roll each into a “sausage” about 1 inch wide. Cut the “sausages” diagonally into 2 cm pieces along the entire length until the dough is used up.

Drop the dumplings into boiling water and cook for 2–3 minutes. Remove them as soon as they float to the surface, transfer to a plate, drizzle with sauce (jam, sour cream, or melted butter), and serve. In summer, garnish with fresh berries.

Life Hack

Freeze some of the dumplings by transferring them from a flat surface into a container or storage bag. Make the dumplings savory by omitting the sugar from the dough and using savory toppings instead of sweet ones.
