In Italian, “torta” originally meant a round bread or cake. A “torte” is typically a layered cake soaked with cream or jam. But you can get the same effect much more simply.
Ingredients: 300 g of cookies (plain crackers can work); 500 g of sour cream; 200 g of sugar; 2 bananas; 50 g of chocolate (optional, for decoration).
Mash the bananas. Mix in the sugar and sour cream, and mash or whisk until smooth. Add the crushed cookies to the cream and stir well.
Transfer the mixture into a mold lined with plastic wrap. Make sure the wrap fits tightly against the mold; otherwise the cake will leak. Make the edges long enough to fold over the top of the mixture.
Fold the wrap edges over the mixture and refrigerate the cake overnight to set. In the morning, flip the mold onto a flat plate and peel off the wrap to release the cake.
Before serving, sprinkle the cake with grated chocolate.
