Last year, a Dutch company unveiled a luxurious vessel that doubles as both a superyacht and a submarine. The bold concept lets it transform from yacht to submarine and back.
This hybrid vessel, priced at about $25 million, can serve as both a research superyacht and a submarine. It is designed for 10 passengers and seven crew members. Thanks to its diesel-electric powertrain, the 37.5-meter “Nautilus,” weighing 1,250 tons, can reach a cruising speed of about 17 km/h on the surface and has a range of up to 6,000 kilometers. It can dive to 150 meters and travel underwater at about 6 km/h with a submerged range of around 200 km. The Nautilus can remain underwater for up to 18 hours.
This half-yacht, half-submarine features a luxurious interior, visuals of which the developers recently shared online.
When the Nautilus is partially submerged, the upper deck remains open for above-water views. The lower level, fitted with large portholes, lets passengers observe the underwater world.
The publication Designboom reported the interior is worthy of a five-star hotel. Every corner of the Nautilus exudes sophistication and wealth. The design was created by specialists at the Milan studio Officina Armare.
There are comfortable sofas crafted by master furniture makers, plus chairs that convert into beds for quick naps. Passengers will find four luxurious guest rooms with relaxation areas, work nooks, bathrooms, and wardrobes. The beds sit right by the windows so passengers can enjoy unforgettable views. The ship also has an elegant master cabin with full amenities. The floors in the rooms are partially covered with silky carpets. There is even an observatory where passengers can take in picturesque landscapes.
When the Nautilus operates as a yacht, it offers guests a spacious sun deck with a freshwater pool, a bar, and a luxurious dining table.
