Huawei’s headlights can now project movies. If the driver doesn’t like the film, the driver can switch to sports or other videos instead.
Huawei developed the XPixel lighting system with a built-in movie projector. The idea is to recreate the nostalgic atmosphere of drive-in theaters by projecting films through the headlights.
The upgraded XPixel version with an “open-air cinema” mode provides full-color video projection and an enhanced safety system. The system can detect even small objects at a distance of 120 meters, such as rocks and animals.
Drivers of the AITO M9 crossover will be the first to get the system. But in the future, the new technology will be rolled out on other Chinese electric vehicles as well.

What else makes these super headlights special?
Drivers taking a break from long road trips in a parking lot will be able to project “moving pictures” from the car’s onboard entertainment system onto a collapsible screen, a wall, or another surface, the Daily Mail reports.
The XPixel system also offers several other features.
- The headlights operate in any weather, automatically adapting to rain or fog.
- They automatically adjust brightness to match environmental conditions while driving.
- The “soft voice-assist” feature projects words onto the road, for example: “Please go ahead.”
- When necessary, the system informs pedestrians when they should cross the road in front of the vehicle.
- The system can also project interactive floor games for children, such as hopscotch.
